MD Partnering with European Cancer Clusters
Dr. Judy Britz of the Maryland Biotechnology Center and Elise Lyons from the State of Maryland European Office in Paris will be leading a small delegation of Maryland companies to the European Cancer Cluster Partnering Event (ECCP) in Toulouse, France, Sept. 14-16. This is the 3rd annual ECCP event, which is focused on cancer–based business partnering opportunities and gathers oncology clinicians, SMEs, pharmaceutical companies and government officials from over 22 countries.

The Cancer-Bio-Health Cluster of France, based in the Midi-Pyrénées region of France (Toulouse) and the Maryland Biotechnology Cluster have formalized an agreement to promote a cooperative regional partnership with focus on the facilitation of B2B opportunities and research and educational collaborations in cancer prevention, detection and treatment.  The first symbolic stage was the signing of a letter of intent in 2010, and now the two clusters are actively working together to actualize collaborations and give structure to B2B, research and educational exchanges. Both regions are biotech business power-houses with more than 400 biotechnology companies located in Maryland and 230+ in the Cancer-Biotech-Health Cluster of France.
