Recovery Bonds Create Jobs in Washington Co.
Federal Recovery Zone bonds are creating jobs throughout Maryland, with Washington County’s Board of Commissioners recently awarding nearly $7 million in recovery zone bonds to the Rider Jet Center to build a hangar and office building for up to 180 employees to lease to Sierra Nevada Corp.
The Bergman Eye Center was also awarded a $5.25 million bond for a 20,000 square-foot Hagerstown medical office and surgery facility. The company will transfer 23 employees and hire an additional 13. The Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development is responsible for tracking the use of the Recovery Zone Bond sub-allocations by Maryland’s counties and Baltimore City, and for facilitating the transfer of any unused allocations among them or to the state. Complete story.
