O'Malley Named BIO Governor of the Year
Maryland’s biotechnology and life sciences companies are marking a week of great industry news, as a contingent of 400 attendees from Maryland, including a delegation of 30 state bioscience companies, participated in the 2010 BIO International Convention, held May 3-6 in Chicago. Governor O’Malley received the 2010 BIO Governor of the Year Award for outstanding leadership in growing the state's biotechnology industry.
On May 13, Maryland Biotechnology Center Director Dr. Judith Britz will lead a workshop at the University of Maryland, Baltimore on Maryland’s Biotechnology Investment Incentive Tax Credit. The credit, which promotes private investment in the State’s emerging biotechnology and life sciences companies, has a funding pool of $8 million available for FY 2011, up from $6 million in previous years.
