Nana
Projects, Creative Alliance stage 10th Halloween Lantern
Parade
Edgar Allan Poe’s poem, Eureka, is the inspiration for this 10th year edition
of the Great Halloween Lantern Parade and Festival, Saturday,
Oct. 24 in Baltimore’s Patterson Park. The festival runs
3 to 9 p.m., and the parade and show lines up at 7 p.m. for
its start at 7:30 p.m.
The parade includes stiltwalkers,
ribbon rockets, floats, music and 1,200 paper lanterns. It
is directed by Molly Ross’ Nana Projects and presented by
the Creative Alliance.
Eureka: A Prose Poem, published in
1848, is Poe’s longest nonfiction work. It addresses the
nature of man, God and the universe. This year marks the
bicentennial anniversary of Poe’s birth, which is being celebrated
in Baltimore as Nevermore 2009.
