map offers event listings by state
Americans for the Arts, the national arts advocacy organization, has a national
map on its web site that provides a listing of events and
programs tied to National Arts and Humanities Month in every
state. See what’s happening in Maryland this month.

Presidential proclamation salutes October celebration of arts
President Obama issued a proclamation, Oct. 2, in honor of National Arts and
Humanities Month. “Every American deserves an opportunity
to study, understand, and contribute to the arts and humanities,”

BOPA presents month-long schedule
of free arts events
This year’s Free Fall Baltimore –
a collection of 300 free arts events hosted by more than
70 art, cultural and heritage organizations – runs Oct. 1- 31.
Events include music, dance and theater performances; museum
exhibitions; and hands-on creative experiences. Free Fall
Baltimore – presented by Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon and
the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts – was developed
to increase accessibility and interest in Baltimore’s cultural
landscape. It is funded through the Creative Baltimore Fund.
