President
taps Hairspray producer for leadership position
Margo Lion was appointed by President Obama as a co-chair of the President’s
Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. Lion, a Baltimore
native, is a Broadway producer whose credits include Hairspray,
Elaine Stritch at Liberty and The Crucible. Her productions
have won 20 Tony Awards. She is an adjunct professor at New
York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She is also on
advisory boards for several organizations, including the
Baltimore Leadership School for Young Women.
