Underground Railroad national park sought on Eastern Shore

The National Park Service with the support of the Maryland Tourism Office is proposing a Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historic Park that would include Eastern Shore sites associated with Tubman – who was born in Dorchester County – and her efforts to free slaves during the years leading up to the Civil War, reports Candus Thomson in the Baltimore Sun, July 11. The Tourism Office has designed a driving tour through the Underground Railroad region.
