Its first satellite studio opened in storefront space at Mondawmin Mall. After three years, Clayworks moved the studio to Forest Park Senior Center, where it operated for 14 months, closing this past December.
In May and June, Baltimore Clayworks will use funding from the MSAC's ArtVantage program to host nationally-recognized artists Kyle and Kelly Phelps from Ohio, and David MacDonald from New York. The artists will work with participants in the Pimlico Road programs.
Clayworks is now considering additional satellite studio locations that promote access to high-quality artistic and creative experiences, especially for students and adults in underserved communities
A group of nine potters and sculptors established Baltimore Clayworks in 1980. Clayworks is dedicated to advancing, developing and sustaining educational, artistic and collaborative programs in ceramic arts. Hours are 10 to 5, Monday through Saturday.
